Most rentals in Lahore are meant for a year or more, with an advance and a deposit. But plenty of people need a place for a month or a few months: a visiting family, someone on a work contract, a person waiting for a flat to be ready, or a returning overseas Pakistani who wants to test an area before committing. This guide explains how short monthly stays work, what example prices look like and what to check.

Where monthly stays come from

  • Furnished houses and portions listed by owners or agents with a monthly or short-term rate.
  • Furnished studios and apartments in managed buildings, often in Gulberg, DHA and Bahria Town, with cleaning included.
  • Furnished rooms inside houses or hostels, short or long term.
  • Online booking platforms that list monthly stays in areas such as Bahria Town, DHA and Gulberg.

Our furnished vs unfurnished guide explains what usually comes in the furnished price, and what does not.

Example prices from listings (October 2026)

These are single listings we read on property portals. They are examples, not averages, and prices change quickly.

  • A fully furnished 4-bedroom house in DHA Phase 5 was advertised at about PKR 4.5 lakh per month for a short stay, against about PKR 3.5 lakh for a long-term tenant, with utilities charged separately.
  • In Gulberg, a managed building listed a studio with basement parking at about PKR 55,000 per month and a one-bedroom apartment at about PKR 99,500 per month, with Wi-Fi and housekeeping mentioned.
  • In Lahore Cantt, an independent furnished room in a hostel building was listed at about PKR 30,000 per month.

One cost-of-living website estimates about PKR 53,000 a month for an 85 square metre furnished place in an ordinary area, but it says its own figure is a guess. Use these only to see the range. The point to note is that a short stay costs more per month than a long lease, because the owner has to find a new tenant sooner.

What to check before you book

  1. Exact dates and minimum stay. Some owners ask for at least a month, others for three.
  2. What the rent covers. Electricity, gas, water, internet, cleaning, laundry and parking. In the DHA example above, utilities were separate.
  3. What is in the home. Beds, mattresses, kitchen items, a fridge, a washing machine, AC, a geyser and a generator or UPS.
  4. Deposit and refund. How much, what it covers and when it comes back. See security deposit and advance rent.
  5. House rules. Guests, parties, smoking, pets, quiet hours.
  6. Bills at the end. How meter readings are taken at check-in and check-out.
  7. Cancellation. What happens if you leave early or the owner cancels.

Do the paperwork even for a short stay

  • Write the dates, rent, deposit and what is included. A one-page signed note is enough for a short stay. For three months or more, use a proper agreement. See the rent agreement format.
  • Ask the owner to register you with the police. The Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act, 2015 covers people who stay temporarily. See tenant registration in Lahore.
  • Take dated photos of the home and the inventory on the day you arrive.
  • Pay by bank transfer and keep a receipt. See the rent receipt format.

Scams to avoid, especially when you book from abroad

Property portals themselves warn buyers not to pay before verifying a property and to be careful with prices that are too low. Short stays are a favourite for scammers because people book without visiting.

  • Do not pay until a trusted friend, relative or agent has seen the home in person, or you have had a live video tour with the owner.
  • Check that the person showing the home is the owner or has written authority.
  • Be careful if the price is far below similar listings in the same area.
  • Never send the whole amount before you receive keys. Pay a small booking amount, then the rest on arrival.

When a monthly stay is not the best choice

  • If you will stay more than about six months, a normal unfurnished or semi-furnished lease is usually cheaper per month.
  • If you just need a bed, a hostel or a paying guest room costs less.
  • If you need one night or a few days, a hotel or guest house is simpler than a rental.

What we could not verify

  • A typical monthly rate for furnished homes by area. The prices above are single listings.
  • Whether the Punjab Rented Premises Act, 2009 applies in the same way to very short stays, or whether a fixed fee counts as hire of premises. Ask a lawyer if this matters.
  • Tax rules for owners who let furnished homes by the month.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rent a house or apartment in Lahore for just one month?

Yes. Some owners and managed buildings list furnished homes by the month or for short stays. Expect to pay more per month than a long lease, and check what the rent includes.

How much does a furnished monthly rental cost in Lahore?

It varies a lot. Listings we read in October 2026 ranged from about PKR 30,000 for a furnished room in Cantt to about PKR 4.5 lakh for a furnished 4-bedroom house in DHA Phase 5. These are single examples, not averages.

Are utilities included in a furnished monthly rental?

Sometimes. In one DHA listing utilities were charged separately, while some managed apartments mention Wi-Fi and housekeeping. Ask for every bill by name before you book.

How do I avoid scams when booking a short stay from abroad?

Do not pay until someone you trust has seen the home or you have had a live video tour. Confirm the owner, pay a small booking amount first and keep every receipt.
